Consolacion mall named disabled-friendly

A MALL in Consolacion town, northern Cebu received an Apolinario Mabini Award for being a disabled-friendly establishment at the Heroes’ Hall in Malacañang Palace last Aug. 28.

SM City Consolacion was awarded Bronze together with other SM malls in compliance with the Accessibility Law.

The Apolinario Mabini Awards are given to public and private organizations that have complied with the guidelines set under the joint circular no. 1 of the National Council on Disability Affairs and the National Computer Center on Web accessibility that aims to boost the right to information called for in the “UN-Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”

SM City Consolacion was recognized for its “exceptional programs and services rendered to further the welfare and protection of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Launched by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled in 1974, the annual awards were named after national hero Apolinario Mabini, also known as the Sublime Paralytic.
