Bigger cop presence in North Triangle

The North Triangle business district will soon have its own police station, one of two being proposed with the creation of two congressional districts in Quezon City.

Under the proposal, the new police station will be located near Quezon City Science High School.

On the other hand, the other police station will be situated at the corner of Luzon and Congressional Avenues, said Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Richard Albano.

Right now, the QCPD has 12 police stations covering the city’s 142 barangays in six congressional districts.

The one at the business district will be the 13th station while the one at the corner of Luzon and Congressional Avenues will be No. 14.

“The additional stations will improve the police-to-population ratio in the areas affected by the reorganization,” Albano said.

QCPD deputy director for administration Senior Supt. Joel Pagdilao, meanwhile, said the creation of the two new police stations would result in an “adjustment” in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Talipapa, Novaliches, Batasan Hills and Masambong police stations.

Under the proposal, the 13th police station will be in charge of Barangays Sauyo, Pasong Tamo, Holy Spirit and Old Balara, while the 14th police station will have Barangays Bahay Toro, Ramon Magsaysay, Alicia, Bagong Pag-asa, Project 6 and Vasra under its jurisdiction.

Albano said the 14th station would also be responsible for the areas near the Departments of Agriculture, Agrarian Reform, Environment and Natural Resources, and the Office of the Ombudsman.
