Search for 10 outstanding children of OFWs extended

The Bank of the Philippine Islands has extended the deadline of submission of entries for the 2013 Search for the Ten Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children until Sept. 30.

The deadline extension will give opportunity for more college students to join the nationwide search.

The search will honor the exemplary achievements of OFW dependents in the academic and non-academic fields.

Search categories include Ibang Klaseng Talino, Ibang Klaseng Community Leader, Ibang Klaseng Entrepreneur and Ibang Klaseng Artist/Athlete.

The winners will each receive a trophy and a cash prize of P50,000 credited to BPInoy savings account.

More than just quality and efficient remittance services, BPI also commits itself to the empowerment of Overseas Filipinos by recognizing the values of excellence that they’ve imparted to their children.

“Children of overseas Filipinos have become more aware of the sacrifices that their parents have endured just to support their families. “We’ve extended the opportunity for more applicants to join because we understand their eagerness in making their parents proud,” said Roy Emil Yu, BPI senior vice president.

Applicants who are qualified to join based on the search’s guidelines must submit an essay, either in English or Filipino, answering the topic: “Overseas migration has its gains and pains. As the daughter/son of an OFW, how can you help optimize the economic gains of your parent’s employment overseas and minimize the social risks that your family faces due to distance and years of separation?”

The essay must be typewritten, double-spaced, and must contain at least 1,000 words but not more than 1,200 words.
