Security arrangements delay Napoles transfer to Makati jail

MANILA, Philippines – Makati sheriff Bong Carreon handed over the commitment order to detain Janet Lim-Napoles at the Makati City Jail to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police Thursday afternoon.

The sheriff arrived at CIDG in Camp Crame past 2 p.m. and met with the chief of CIDG National Capital Region Senior Superintendent Roberto Fajardo.

Fajardo said that Napoles, the alleged brains behind the P10-billion pork barrel racket, will only be transferred to Makati City Jail until the security is settled.

The police officer could not say if the transfer will be made within the day.

“It will depend on the security preparations…Her personal safety must be taken into consideration,” he told reporters.

Makati RTC Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda issued the commitment order for Napoles Thursday afternoon after the police returned the warrant of arrest to court.

Napoles surrendered to President Benigno Aquino III in Malacañang late Wednesday night and was later brought to Camp Crame.
