Tropical storm ‘Nando’ finally out of PH

MANILA, Philippines–Tropical storm ‘Nando’ (international name Kong-Rey) is already out of the Philippine area of responsibility midday Thursday.

In its final bulletin for the storm, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Nando was last observed 20 kilometers east of Northern Taiwan.

It packed maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 135 kph. It was moving at 19 kph northward.

The storm will still bring moderate to heavy rains within its 500 kilometer-diameter, and will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, which which will bring moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms over Calayan, Babuyan and Batanes.

The low pressure area being monitored by the weather bureau was last observed 1,220 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon.

Pagasa warned of sea risky travel over the seaboards of Northern Luzon.
