MANILA, Philippines – For the first time, Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno faced the media and answered questions about the judiciary, a step that is the reverse of last year’s pronouncement of “dignified silence.”
Sereno met the press one year after she assumed the top post in the Judiciary.
During the three hour question and answer with media panel, she explained the problems confronting the judiciary, the steps being taken and goals.
However, she declined to answer question about the priority development assistance fund (PDAF).
“I don’t see this as a departure from the dignified silence,” she said pointing that they do not answer questions about politics and issues that could reach the Supreme Court.
