Cebu institute grad tops med board exams
A graduate of Cebu Institute of Medicine topped the 1,834 passers out of the 2,211 who took the Physician Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Cebu and Davao this August, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said on Tuesday.
Blake Warren Coloma Ang got a score of 89.42 percent.
Cebu Institute of Medicine was among the four schools that registered a 100-percent passing rate. It had 79 examinees. The University of the Philippines-Manila had 149 examinees; Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 97; and Ateneo de Manila University School of Medicine and Public Health-Pasig, 84.
UP Manila has five passers in the Top 10, with Daniel Yenko Guevara and Abdelsimar Tan Omar II both second placers with 88.75 percent; Jason Sta. Ana Arboleda, sixth, 88.25; Karen Joyce Go Chua, eighth, 88.08; and Paul Anthony Orencia Alad, 10th, 87.83.
From Ateneo: Ruth Divine Daguro Agustin, third, 88.67; and Pamela Marie Blanco Imperial, ninth, 87.92.
From University of Santo Tomas: Timothy Lee Tang Lee Say, fourth, 88.50; and Donn Romell Marcelo Bernace, seventh, 88.17.

Article continues after this advertisementAlso a fifth placer was Co-Neil Rebanal Relato of University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center with 88.33.
Alvin Christian Caminade Borbon of Cebu Institute of Medicine is also a seventh placer with 88.17 percent.
The top eight performing schools (with 50 or more examinees and with at least 80 percent passing rate) were the following:
— UST, 427 passers (99.53 percent)
— University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, 169 (98.26 percent)
— West Visayas State University-La Paz, 68 (97.14 percent)
— Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, 94 (94 percent)
— Saint Louis University, 62 (93.94 percent)
— Davao Medical School Foundation, 56 (90.32 percent)
— De La Salle University, 77 (89.53 percent).

The Board of Medicine was chaired by Dr. Edgardo T. Fernando and the members were Dr. Jose Y. Cueto Jr., Dr. Restituto C. de Ocampo, Dr. Florentino C. Doble, Dr. Miguel L. Noche Jr. and Dr. Mildred N. Pareja.
The registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be on Sept. 2 and 3.
