6-month-old baby boy needs to undergo tests to determine illness

Six-month-old Courtney Collins Corpuz needs to undergo three tests as soon as possible to determine what is wrong with him.

His aunt Evelyn Nebreja told the Inquirer that doctors at the Philippine General Hospital have recommended that her nephew undergo a cranial Magnetic Resonance Imaging test, urine metabolic screening with organic acid and brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) exam.

The last test, Nebreja said, was important as it would detect the electrical activity in his cochlea and brain auditory pathways.

“His eyes are wide open but he does not seem to see anything. There is no reaction at all. He cries only when he is hungry,” she added.

Nebreja said that there are also times when Courtney, the fourth child of Giezel Torillas and Ahries Corpuz, seems to be having a seizure.

The couple, however, were both laid off from work last month and do not have the means to have their son tested.

“That’s why they are asking for financial assistance from your readers. They want to know what needs to be done to save their baby,” Nebreja said.
