Cebu to face rains ahead as ‘Mina’ intensifies
THE Mactan office of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa) warned Cebuanos to brace for more rains amid the growing presence of Tropical Storm “Mina.”
Pagasa Mactan weather analyst Ella Kumahig said Mina has intensified and remains stationary in the northern part of the country. “The weather is erratic. We have to be prepared,” she said.
She said residents living in landslide- and flood-prone areas should monitor the water level and soil movement and evacuate on the earliest sign of siltation and flooding.
“Mina” is estimated based on satellite and surface data at 400 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum winds of 85 kph and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience monsoon rains while the rest of Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms. Reporter Candeze R. Mongaya
