ADONES Aguelo of the Flores Boxing gym of Mandaue City fought to an eighth-round split draw against unbeaten Japanese Ryuto Kyoguchi in a non-title bout in Osaka, Japan last Saturday.
The scores were pegged at 77-76 for Kyoguchi, 77-76 for Aguelo and 77-77.
The 25-year-old Aguelo has a record of 20W-8L-2D, 12 KOs while Kyoguchi is still unbeated with a 10W-0L-1D, 7 KO mark.
Last February, Aguelo won a majority decision in Japan against another previously unbeaten Japanese boxer Sho Arai. He also won his last fight in Maasin City last May against Gadwin Tubigon by third round knockout.
The 22-year-old Kyoguchi beat Filipino Jonel Alibio by unanimous decision last November and won his last bout also by unanimous nod against Thai Petchnamchai Jittigym last March.
In the same fight card held at the Bodymaker Coliseum, another Pinoy boxer Rey Megriño (20W-20L-3D, 17 KOs) scored a unanimous decision victory over Japanese Myung Ho Lee (16W-4L, 5 KOs). /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre jr.
