Robbers hit bakeshop 30 mins before closing

Taking advantage of an undermanned store, five armed men robbed a bakeshop of over P60,000 cash in Quezon City late Saturday night, a half-hour shy of closing time.

Apart from cash, the bandits also took an employee’s wallet and a security guard’s service revolver.

Police Officer 2 Henry Tingle of the Quezon City Police District Batasan Hills station said the incident happened between 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Red Ribbon Bakeshop along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Old Balara.

Tingle said store manager Krisha Apolona was manning the counter when five men entered the bakeshop.

Initially Apolona thought they were customers and was about to take their order when two of the men pulled out handguns and disarmed the security guard.

Three other men then whipped out pistols and announced the heist, ordered Apolona to hand over the cash.

One of the men went behind the counter to get the P63,000 cash and even grabbed Apolona’s wallet as he fled with his cohorts.

The police said that the suspects fled on a taxi.

Investigators were verifying whether the driver of the taxi was a cohort. Jeannette I. Andrade
