MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area monitored east of Dinagat Islands has developed into a tropical depression and was named “Nando,” said the state weather bureau Sunday morning.
Tropical depression “Nando” was last observed 290 kilometers east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
A weather report issued at 11 a.m. said it was moving north northwest at 13 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected within the 300 km diameter of the cyclone.
It is expected to reach 270 km east of Virac, Catanduanes on Monday morning.
