MANILA, Philippines – Two out of 9 dams in Luzon kept their gates open on Sunday to let excess water spill, a report by Radyo Inquirer 990AM said.
The report said Ambuklao and Binga dam in Benguet province kept their gates open at one meter and two meters, respectively.
As of 6 a.m., Ambuklao had its water level at 751.38 meters, a little lower than its high water level of 752 meters, according to a status report by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
Binga Dam’s water level was at 574.4 meters, lower than the high water level of 575 meters.
Meanwhile, Ipo Dam in Bulacan had closed its gates with a water level of 100.54 meters, below its flood season level of 100.8 meters.
The state weather bureau has been closely monitoring the various dams in Luzon, especially after the heavy rains and flooding caused by tropical storm “Maring” (international name Trami) and the southwest monsoon.
