Education Secretary Armin Luistro has reminded school officials to come up with measures to make up for the lost class time due to the bad weather last week.
In a statement, Luistro said public school superintendents were “mandated to consult with their school principals” and decide “how best to conduct” make-up classes.
The officials of private schools were also given authority to come up with “measures to meet the required contact time (of teachers) with students,” Luistro said.
The DepEd requires elementary and high school teachers to have a minimum “contact time” of 180 days with their students. This is equivalent to 45 contact days every quarter.
“If there are class disruptions, these can be made up through additional take-home modules or actual makeup classes either on Saturdays or by extending class hours on weekdays,” Luistro said. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
