Alaska set to finally see action today

Games today:

Araneta Coliseum

5:15 p.m.- Alaska vs. Globalport

7:30 p.m.- Rain or Shine vs. Petron

With floods finally receding, action in the 38th PBA Governors’ Cup could resume today with a twinbill at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Alaska Aces are set to finally make their debut in the season-ending conference against Globalport Batang Pier in the 5:15 p.m. opener while the 7:30 p.m. tussle will have the defending champions Rain or Shine Elasto Painters versus the Petron Blaze Boosters.

Alaska was supposed to play its first game last Wednesday against the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters but the scheduled games on that day were postponed due to the massive flooding that struck various places in Metro Manila. Also canceled was the game between the San Mig Coffee Mixers and Globalport.

Globalport has been the subject of recent trade rumors involving top gun Gary David.

Rumors have it that David was to be shipped to the Barangay Ginebra Kings in a three-team deal. In exchange for David, Globalport was supposed to get Meralco’s Cliff Hodge and a second-round draft pick from Ginebra. Meralco would then acquire Kerby Raymundo and Globalport’s 2014 first-round pick.

But in a spin.ph report, Globalport team manager BJ Manalo denied the supposed deal although he said the team is open to any transaction that would bolster their roster. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
