‘Bomb threat’ operation in Taguig City reveals a box of bottles—police
MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE 2) Hours after authorities resolved the alleged bomb threat at a fast-food establishment in Taguig City Tuesday evening, they found out that the unattended box only held several bottles, a police spokesperson told Inquirer.net.
Southern Police District spokeswoman Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson said the policemen who were deployed to a Jollibee establishment in Taguig City handled the incident as they would a real bomb threat and conducted a blasting procedure on the box in a safe area. Roughly an hour after authorities responded, the threat was declared under control.
Tecson earlier said that an alleged bomb threat in a Jollibee branch located along C5 Road in Diego Silang, Taguig City was reported to the police at around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday. She said that members of the Special Weapons and Tactics, Explosives and Ordnance Division officers as well as Taguig City police decided to blast the unattended box with wirings found at the basement of the Jollibee establishment.
The police spokeswoman said several persons at the fast-food establishment saw the box and suspecting that it may contain explosives, called the authorities.
