DENR launches coffee table book

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR-7) launched its first coffee table book last Tuesday.

Entitled “Pursuing Excellence in Environmental Governance,” the 56-page book features the accomplishments of the department in the region,” DENR-7 executive director Isabelo Montejo said.

The book aims to promote the DENR’s flagship programs and to inspire the readers to take part in their activities.

“The coffee table book features the activities of the department in line with its five goals like biodiversity conservation, community- based forest management, equitable land management, responsible mining and clean environment,” Montejo said.

FEATURED STORIES

The book is the first-ever published by the DENR regional office.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Director Loreto Alburo said the book captures the wealth of the DENR’s partnership with various stakeholders.

“A chronicle of the important achievements in pursuing the banner programs of DENR Secretary Ramon Paje particularly geohazard mapping and assessment and the national greening program can be found in the book,” Alburo said.

Recipients of the book during the launch included the Cebu City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Philippine Port Authority, National Economic and Development Authority in Central Visayas, DENR Region 8 in Tacloban City and the Commission on Audit.

The book will also be displayed in hotels and resorts, other national government agencies, sea port and airport authorities.

“It is the commitment of the DENR to be the lead agency in environmental programs. Through this book, we will be able to share with you our deepest commitment and dedication to continue to achieve exemplary performance in the course of environmental protection and conservation,” said Montejo.
