MANILA, Philippines—Tropical storm “Maring” (international name: Trami) slightly weakened early Wednesday as it continued to move out of the Philippine area of responsibility.

Rains also eased in Metro Manila, with a yellow rainfall alert up overnight until early Wednesday.

Flooding is still threatening with moderate to heavy rains expected inMetro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro for the next three hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in its weather bulletin issued at 4:30 a.m.

Maring was last observed 500 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 135 kph.

It now moves west northwest at 15 kph, and is expected to be out of the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday afternoon or evening, Nelson Dianela of Pagasa said.

The southwest monsoon still affects Luzon and the Visayas and continues to be enhanced by the Maring.

“Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and the province of Benguet, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, Visayas, the rest of Luzon and the regions of Caraga and Davao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago, and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
