MANILA, Philippines – Tropical storm “Maring” (international name Trami) maintained its speed as it moved northwest Tuesday afternoon.
The storm off Batanes, the 13th for this year, continued to enhance the southwest monsoon affecting Luzon and the Visayas.
“Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and the province of Benguet will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Meanwhile, Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
“Maring” was last spotted 540 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 120 kph. It kept its speed of 19 kph. It is seen to exit the country by Thursday.
Orange rainfall alert remained in Metro Manila after being extended at 4:10 p.m.
