MANILA, Philippines – At least 1,000 families were evacuated as La Mesa Dam in Quezon City continued to spill water.
Jeric Sevilla, corporate communication head of Manila Water Company, said that as of 3:30 p.m., 437 families were evacuated in Valenzuela, while 700 families were evacuated in Malabon.
As of 4 p.m., water in La Mesa Dam continued to spill as its water level reached 80.33 meters, which was over its spilling level of 80.15 meters.
Water from the dam goes into the Tullahan River, which flows through the northern part of Quezon City, including the Fairview area, as well as the cities of Malabon, Valenzuela, and Caloocan before draining into Manila Bay.
