Rainfall alert in Metro Manila downgraded from red to orange

MANILA, Philippines – Rainfall alert in Metro Manila was downgraded to orange from red Tuesday afternoon by the state weather bureau.

Severe flooding is expected as heavy to intense rains would affect Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales and Bataan, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in its bulletin issued at 1:10p.m.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains is affecting Northern Quezon and portion of Nueva Ecija and most likely to continue for the next three hours, it also said.

The red rainfall alert was raised at 7:30 a.m. and was extended once before it was downgraded to orange.

The heavy rains were caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm Maring (international name Trami).
