Floods rise to waist, chest levels in Parañaque, Las Piñas
MANILA, Philippines — Las Piñas and Parañaque cities experienced deep flooding following continuous rainfall from Sunday to Monday.
The worst of the flooding in Las Piñas City was reported on Narra St., Camella 5 subdivision in Barangay (village) Pulanglupa Dos, where the floodwater rose to the chest. Waist-deep floodwater also submerged the Alabang-Zapote road from the corner of Diego Cerra street in Barangay Zapote, to the Las Piñas district hospital.
At least 160 families were evacuated to the Barangay Pamplona 3 hall in Las Piñas City; and 231 people evacuated to the barangay hall of Ilaya, city public information officer Jimmy Castillano said.
In Parañaque, 59 families or 217 people were evacuated in Barangays San Dionisio, Tambo and Sto. Niño, Senior Supt. Ariel Andrade, city police chief, said.
Sucat road in front of SM Sucat had waist-high floods, as of 4 p.m. on Monday. Four trucks have been deployed by the city government to ferry the stranded to the Evacom area.
