MANILA, Philippines — An 18-year-old scavenger had to rush himself to the hospital after he was shot by a man in Pasig City early Saturday.
Chief Inspector Oscar Boyles, the city’s investigation unit, said Michael Orato, 18, was collecting plastic bottles and scrap material in Barangay (village) Oranbo when a man approached him and shot him once in the shoulder at 12:01 a.m.
The assailant, who was still unidentified Sunday evening, immediately fled from the scene.
It was Orato who rushed himself to Rizal Medical Center.
Dr. Paul Garcia, however, discharged Orato with instructions on his medicines and treatment at home, Boyles said.
The police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.
A follow-up operation is being conducted to determine the identity of the attacker.
