7 injured in San Juan City explosion

MANILA, Philippines—Seven individuals were wounded in an explosion that took place in an unidentified seafood restaurant, not a pizza store as earlier reported, on Wilson Street, San Juan City around 1 a.m. Saturday, radio reports said.

Police investigators are eyeing a gas explosion, not a bomb blast as earlier reported.  Of the seven injured, two are delivery boys of Pizza Hut restaurant, which is infront of the seafood restaurant.  Two are security guards of nearby establishment.

The blast also destroyed vehicles parked nearby and two passing cars, injuring two more unidentified drivers, added the reports.

The identities of the wounded are yet to be released by the police.

Interviewed by reporters, the store’s security guard on duty identified only as Romulo said the restaurant was on its closing hours when the blast occurred.
