5 HURT IN BALAMBAN ROAD MISHAP

FIVE persons were injured when the vehicle they were riding crashed along the Transcentral Highway in barangay Cansamoroy, Balamban town, southwest of Cebu.

Kathleen May Sison, 27, Marvin Lalican, 25, Reztie Almocera, 30, Israel Rona and his brother Cromwell, 18, sustained cuts and bruises in their bodies. They were brought to Balamban District Hospital for treatment.

Police said the victims were among the 10 persons aboard a gray Toyota Hi-lux driven by Sison.

The group was headed to Tuburan town for an outing when the accident occurred past 7 a.m. yesterday.

Police said Sison lost control of the wheel when the vehicle’s brake malfunctioned.

To avoid falling into a ravine, Sison swerved to the opposite lane but the vehicle fell on its side, said PO1 Johnrell Romero of Balamban police.

Chief Insp. Richard Oliver said Sison was not familiar with the road since it was her first time to take the route going to Tuburan.
