Julaton returns to the ring Aug. 17 in Mexico

FORMER WBO female super bantamweight champion Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton (12W-3L-1D, 2 KOs) will make her return to the ring after a one year hiatus against Celina Salazar (4W-1L-2D, 1 KO) of San Antonio, Texas in Cancun, Mexico.

The 10-round non-title bout will be on Aug. 17 in the undercard of the championship match between WBC superfeatherweight champion Takashi Miura of Japan and Sergio Thompson of Mexico.

The 33-year-old Julaton has not fought since her first round TKO win over Abigail Ramos in Yucatan, Mexico last Aug. 3, 2012. In March of last year, Julaton lost her world title in Argentina to Yessica Patricia Marcos by unanimous decision.

Salazar is nine years younger and lost her last fight by majority decision against Melinda Cooper in Las Vegas. Her last win however, was also by first round TKO against Desire Agosto in Florida.

This fight card is presented by Golden Boy Promotions along with Cancun Boxing and will be televised in the U.S. and Mexico. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
