Vicsal scholars get cash grant

Eleven outstanding scholars of Vicsal Foundation Inc. (VSF) received a cash grant from Wealth Development Bank for their exemplary performance in school.

WealthBank president Gregorio B. Anonas III handed over the checks to scholars who are consistent dean’s listers of University of San Jose-Recoletos and Cebu Institute of Technology last Aug. 7.

“With a good attitude in your studies, you are getting ready to be exemplary employees once you graduate from the university and join the country’s workforce. The good future of your family, your community and your country rests on you,” said Anonas.

Four of the scholars maintained a general point average of 1.0 to 1.20, entitling them to 100 percent discount in tuition fees. They are Kris Anne Singson, Sheena Angelie Teñoso, Theresa Unabia who are taking up Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Miko Cabatingan, a student of Bachelor of Arts in International Studies.

Cabatingan expressed his gratefulness to their benefactors who earnestly believe in the importance of education.

“We are sincerely thankful to our benefactors for their generosity and continued support to those individuals like us who are determined to finish our studies but are financially challenged. You are the catalyst in realizing our dreams,” Cabatingan said.

WealthBank, one of the benefactors of the foundation, was elated upon seeing the young individuals excel in their respective field.

Vicsal Foundation, a corporate foundation of Metro Gaisano chain of stores, has 60 scholars who graduated under its scholarship program. It also has 78 scholars who are currently enrolled in the different universities in Cebu, which include the University of San Carlos and Benedicto College, among others.
