SM Foundation plants 10,000 trees

SM Foundation, together with SM City Cebu managers and employees and its affiliates, Philippine Navy and Cammita people’s organization, successfully held a tree planting activity last Aug. 7 in barangay Camp 4, Talisay City, Cebu.

A total of 10,000 seedlings that included narra, mamalis, guyabano, and guava were planted by more than 200 volunteers on a 20-hectare lot under the supervision of the Cammita.

SM Foundation assistant vice president Cristie Angeles and SM Supermalls vice president for Visayas Operations Joy Veloso led the tree-planting activity.

The “Grow A Million Trees” of SM Foundation is a project geared to support the government’s National Greening Program.

SM Foundation and the DENR Central Office signed a memorandum of agreement to launch the project across SM Supermalls. The SM Group pledged to plant over 400,000 of the 1 million trees this year, with the remaining trees to be planted in five years.
