PERSONNEL from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) inspected malls around the city yesterday to check on their security systems.
The inspection according to Chief Insp. Enrique Belciña, chief of the Police Community Relations was part of the CCPO’s efforts to enhance police visibility to discourage terrorist attacks.
In the CCPO command conference yesterday, chief Senior Supt. Noli Romana ordered the city police force to make their presence felt in areas frequented by crowds.
Belciña said that Romana had emphasized the need for the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) to be pro-actively implemented.
Aside from police visibility, Romana has also ordered policemen to regularly check pension houses, hotels, and lodging houses in their area of responsibility.
Chief Inspector Ryan Devaras said they have called on security forces of malls to tighten security procedures especially in checking baggage and frisking people entering their establishments.
Romana also ordered the Waterfront, Carbon, and Sawang Calero police stations to increase street patrols.
