Shootings kills 1, wounds another

TWO separate shooting incidents over the weekend claimed one life and was injured another.

Renato Lauron, 52, an ex-convict was killed allegedly by one Marlon Dandan alias Laylay. The shooting took place in Spolarium Street, barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

Lauron sustained gunshots in his back and left arm that killed him.

Among the things found in the victim’s possession was a certificate of discharge from the Sablayan Penal Colony in Occidental Mindoro.

In another shooting incident, Reynante Fernan Tito, 32, a taxi driver was allegedly shot by Mark Labauan alias Ingking in sitio Callejon, Labangon, Cebu City

Rob victims to suspect: Worse than a witch

A notorious neighborhood thief was arrested by the Talisay City Police Office (TCPO) yesterday.

Lynde Maglinte, 20 was arrested after hot pursuit operations for robbing Virginia Padungao, 49, of sitio Kilawan, barangay Tanke.

Upon his arrests, neighbors swore: “Maypa naka silingan og wakwak kaysa kawatan. [It would be better to have a witch for a neighbor than a thief.]”

Seized from Maglinte’s possession were a caliber .38 revolver with three live bullets, knife, pistol belt

Padungao alleged that Maglinte stole P9,500 cash from her bedroom.

Another victim, Francisco Cabrera, 59, said he lost a cellular phone and P24,000 cash to Maglinte.

Another neighbor Katherine Salazar claimed Maglinte stole an electric curler from her, while Charley Labajo said a pistol belt was also stolen from him.

SPOI Mike Espina of the TCPO said that Maglinte has been in and out of detention for theft and robbery. /Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc

Demolition turns violent

MEMBERS of the Cebu City demolition team were met by flying bottles, pans, bowls, screaming and cursing when they tried to demolish an eatery inside the barangay Pahina Central Sports Complex.

Raquel Arce, head of the City Hall’s Prevention Restoration Order Beautification Enhancement (Probe) said she will file charges for harassment and resisting arrest against eatery owner Editha Inso, her husband Benigno and two others who resisted the demolition.  /Correspondent Patricia Andrea Pateña
