Filinvest project to generate more jobs

/ 09:59 AM August 13, 2013

More tourists and employment opportunities are expected in Cebu City as Filinvest Land Inc. completes some of its projects in its “City by the Sea” development at the South Road Properties (SRP).

The Citta di Mare or Italian for “City by the Sea” will attract more foreign investors and tourists due to its location fronting the seawaters at the SRP, Mayor Michael Rama said last Saturday.

“It will open up tourism opportunities because the place is really beautiful,” said Rama.

The Citta di Mare is a 40-hectare joint project of Filinvest Land Inc. and the Cebu City government.

Rama added that the project is like hitting two birds with one stone, as it will attract tourists and it will also generate jobs for Cebuanos especially in the construction sector.

Rama showed his optimism on the joint-venture project as Filinvest turned over one of its Amalfi Oasis buildings.

The five-story building with at least 150 condominium units is ready for occupancy.

Amalfi Oasis 1 is part of a three-building residential cluster at the Citta di Mare.

Several units from a total of 150 from Amalfi’s Building 1 have been given to its owners since April and are now ready for occupancy.

Citta di Mare Project Development Officer Cyel Auza said that there are already three families residing at Amalfi’s Building 1.

Building 2 of Amalfi, which also has 150 units, is ready for inspection and will be handed over to the owners anytime soon.

The third Amalfi building is now 47 percent done and will be subjected to inspection and will be turned over as soon as it is completed.

Auza said the buyers of the condo units are mostly from affluent families from different provinces, overseas Filipino workers, and foreigners.

Another residential building cluster complementing the Amalfi Oasis is the San Remo Oasis, which is another cluster of buildings at the Citta di Mare.

San Remo buildings are set to be inspected and turned over to buyers in the last quarter of 2013 and the second quarter of 2014.

Future Plans

Auza said that the project’s development is dependent on the market demand.

She added that they planned to add six more buildings to Amalfi and three more to San Remo.

She also said that a 10-hectare lot across the Citta Di Mare project will be turned into a shopping center by Filinvest.

Development for the future mall dubbed as Il Corso, started last June and is set to open in 2016, Auza said.

She said the mall is also expected to provide more jobs for Cebuanos once it opens in 2016.
