The brother of Provincial Board (PB) Member Grecilda “Gigi” Sanchez-Caballero will be brought back to Cebu this week after he was arrested in San Jose, Nueva Ecija on illegal drug possession charges.
Zaballero said her younger brother Leodegreco “Greco” Sanchez was ordered by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 13 to attend his court hearings in Cebu.
She earlier asked the court to commit “Greco” to the Bicutan Drug Rehabilitation Center in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City to prevent him from escaping.
Zaballero cited as basis the recommendation of Dr. David Baron, chief of the Department of Health (DOH) office in Argao and Greco’s former drug rehabilitation advisor.
But the court denied her request, stating that Greco avoided due process when he fled to Nueva Ecija.
Gigi said she is negotiating with the police for Greco to be allowed to board a plane bound for Cebu on Wednesday.
The police also agreed to provide additional officers to accompany Greco on the trip, she said.
“We are willing to shoulder the airfares and other expenses just to make sure that Greco won’t be uncomfortable on his way back,” she said.
Asked about the condition of her brother in the Nueva Ecija prison, Gigi said he is not under “good living conditions.”
Operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) arrested Greco and Edward Teves in a drug raid at a house in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City last April.
