Cagayanons join fun walk; firm donates proceeds to charity

MORE than a thousand participants gathered at the Centrio Mall in Cagayan de Oro City at the break of dawn to join the first activity of the first Rustan’s Supermarket in Mindanao: 3k and 5k fun walk.

Cagayanons of all ages took a step to healthier living as they warmed up with zumba moves before the gun start officiated by Rustan’s Supermarket Vis-Min director for store operations Jeffrey Dilao and Xavier Ecoville Project officer-in-charge Ryan Madrid.

All proceeds from the registration fees, which totaled to P203,600, went to the Xavier EcoVille project, a Xavier University-led resettlement initiative for Sendong survivors.

Participants did not only take steps toward health and wellness, but towards a sense of social responsibility as well.

At the finish line, refreshments were served courtesy of Tang, Nescafe and Selecta.

To add to the revelry, raffle prizes amounting to P10,000 worth of gift certificates from R.O.X and P75,000 worth of gift certificates from Payless Shoesource were given out to lucky bib numbers while special gift baskets were given out as tokens to early birds, first finishers and the “Face of the Day.”

Everyone enjoyed hamming it up for the camera at the fun photo wall with photos uploaded to www.fb.com/rustansfresh.
