MANILA, Philippines – Landslides caused by Typhoon “Labuyo” prompted authorities to temporarily close Kennon Road to vehicles heading in and out of Baguio City on Monday, a Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said.
The report said the Department of Public Works and Highways advised Baguio-bound motorists to instead take Marcos Highway or Naguilian Road after Kennon Road was closed at 10 a.m. because of landslides and falling rocks.
Citing Benguet Vice Governor Nelson Dangwa and the Philippine National Police, Inquirer Baguio (@inquirer_baguio) posted on Twitter that Ampusongan-Sinipsip, Bokod-Kabayan and Baguio-Nueva Vizcaya roads were also closed due to landslides.
The DPWH told the public to cancel long trips, especially in typhoon-affected areas, to avoid road accidents.
