Drowning

TWO men who were believed to have drowned were found floating in the waters in two separate incidents last Sunday afternoon.

Wilfredo Bentulan was retrieved using a fish net from the waters of Naghalin River in barangay Flores, Catmon, north Cebu.

Police initial investigation revealed that the victim, who cannot swim,  went fishing Saturday afternoon. He was discovered by Ramil Lim who reported the incident to the authorities.

The victim’s cadaver will be subjected to autopsy.

In Palm Beach, Minglanilla town, south Cebu, Jerry Hibong who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol drowned after he went to the sea for a swim.

Initial investigation revealed that the Hibong, 28, was having a drinking spree with friends on the beach  when they decided to  swim.

Police said minutes later his friends declared him missing. The residents searched for the victim who was later found floating.

The victim was brought to the Minglanilla District Hospital where the attending physician  declared him already dead./Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc

Marijuana seized

AN employee in a private firm was caught with a bundle of  marijuana leaves in  barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City, last Sunday.

Ronilo Basubas of Basak, Lapu-Lapu City was caught placing marijuana leaves inside his bag upon inspection when he was about to enter the premises of Simon’s Craft International.
