Manila, Philippines – Some legislators have expressed support for the Aquino administration’s plan to file corruption charges against former officials of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), a Radyo Inquirer report said Tuesday.
The case involves former TESDA Director Augusto Syjuco, now Iloilo 2nd District Representative, and his officials over an unaccounted scholarship fund amounting to P2 billion.
Buhay Partylist Representative Irwin Tieng, and Gabriela Representatives Luzviminda C. Ilagan and Emerenciana A. De Jesus said Syjuco and other allies of Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo involved in the anomaly must be punished.
The lawmakers said that they were backing the programs for reform of TESDA Director Joel Villanueva and his efforts to unveil anomalies under the administration of former president Arroyo.
