TUGUEGARAO CITY—A police officer turned over P64,000 to a commercial money transfer company here, saying the service erroneously handed her an excessively large amount when she withdrew the money sent by her sister from London.

PO3 Janeth Acoba of Cataggaman village said she withdrew P128,000 from an outlet of Western Union on Aug. 3 and went straight home without counting the bills. Acoba, who is assigned to Lasam town police, said she was shocked to find P64,000 in excess bills on Aug. 4, a Sunday.

Afraid that the error may cost the company clerk her job, Acoba quickly returned the money. Acoba said her sister had been sending money to help build her home.–Villamor Visaya Jr.
