LOS Demonyos won the battle of unbeaten teams, nipping arch rival Pañeros, 83-76 last Saturday for its third straight win in the 7th IBP Governor’s Cup-2011 basketball tournament.
Pañeros jumped to an impressive 21-11 lead in the opening period but Los Demonyos responded with a 26-14 run to take a 37-35 lead at the half. It ended the third with a precarious 54-53 advantage.
Los Demonyos then outscored Paneros, 29-23 in the fourth with Lito Ortiz scoring 10 of those including eight from the free throw line for the seven-point win.
Ortiz and Richard Bauzon led Los Demonyos with 20 and 19 points, respectively while Michael Molde and Ruel Juban paced Pañeros with 12 points apiece.
Earlier, the Super Idols routed the Eagles, 63-48, for its 2nd win in three games with Fermin Pepito and Benjo Macion scoring 15 and 13 points, respectively. Jun Hiyas paced the Eagles (1-2) with 15 markers.
In the 3rd game, Pecandela Law Firm trounced Jodin, 60-53, to improve to 2-1. Tommy Yu and Brandon Enad led Pecandela with 21 and 13 points, respectively.
In the main game, the Bhutakalz drubbed winless Primos Inter Pares, 73-57 with Cris Ang posting 25 points. Marven Miralles paced Primos with 30 points.
