MANILA, Philippines—Petron Corp. said Friday it would look into the Philippine Coast Guard’s findings that the oil firm’s leaking underwater pipeline caused the massive oil spill off Cavite.
“Yesterday, we conducted two pressure hydro tests and cleared the pipeline of the product. We will look into PCG’s report,” Petron Corp said in its Facebook page.
“Meanwhile, Petron’s efforts continue to be geared towards monitoring and recovery operations in Rosario and Tanza in Cavite,” it added.
As of Friday, Petron said there were minimal traces of sheen in the waters off Rosario and Tanza towns of Cavite.
“Diesel is a non-persistent oil and we expect it to be dispersed soon,” it said.
“We continue to closely cooperate with local government authorities, PCG, and other concerned groups to resolve this situation immediately,” it added.
