3 NPA rebels killed in Bulacan clash

/ 12:36 PM August 09, 2013

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—Three New People’s Army rebels were killed in an encounter with Army soldiers in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan on early morning Friday, a report from the military’s Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) said.

Government troops recovered an M-16 rifle from the clash site in Barangay Kabayunan.

Major General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Nolcom commander, said soldiers were still scouring the area in a bid to capture communist rebels who fled.
Nolcom reports showed this was the third clash between government security forces and communist guerrillas since June. The July 30 firefight in Barangay Bobon in Camiling, Tarlac saw six NPA rebels killed and another wounded.

Kabayanan was where the military nabbed 11 rebels supposedly collecting money from election candidates last April.
