MIAMI – Two men appeared in a US federal court in Miami on Thursday charged with funnelling support to Al-Qaeda and other militant groups, justice officials said.

US citizen Gufran Ahmed Kauser Mohammed, 30, and Mohamed Hussein Said, 25, a Kenyan national, are accused of providing material support to three designated foreign terrorist organizations, a statement said.

Both men face a 15-count indictment which alleges they conspired to provide money and new recruits to Al-Qaeda, Al-Qaeda in Iraq/Al-Nusra Front and Al-Shebab.

If convicted, each defendant faces a maximum of 15 years in prison for each count on the indictment.
