Make-A-Wish looking for Cebu volunteers

The Make-A-Wish Foundation Philippines is set to visit Cebu this weekend to recruit volunteers.

Cebuanos are invited to join the volunteer orientation and become volunteer wish granters tomorrow, Aug. 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Make-A-Wish Foundation Philippines is a non-profit organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

It is an affiliate of Make A Wish International.

More than 1,300 wishes have already been granted by the foundation since it started 13 years ago.

The foundation has over 100 volunteers in Metro Manila and in Baguio City.

One of its beneficiaries, Kyla, is a leukemia patient who wished to become a chef.

Last year, volunteers and sponsors of Make-A-Wish Foundation granted her wish for a day.

Kyla, dressed in a chef’s uniform, spent the day joining the hotel’s chef in meetings, menu planning sessions, greeting guests, and even helping out in the kitchen.

Kyla was stricken with the disease at age 8. Instead of playing with fellow kids, she spends most of her time in the hospital getting treatment.

Despite her illness, Kyla is doing well in school.

In fact, she transferred to the school within the hospital where she is being treated.

The foundation believes that life is not measured by time but by memories.

Those who wish to attend the orientation may text to (0917) 8505808.
