THE REIGNING champions University of San Carlos (USC) notched its third straight win with a 47-25 bashing of the University of the Visayas (UV) in the Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP) division in the Cebu leg of the Milo-backed BEST Center Twin Tournament.
USC started the breakaway in the second period, where it established a 25-10 halftime lead and finished off its opponents in the final stanza with a 19-6 wind-up to register the lopsided win.
In other SBP games, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) trounced the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), 42-15, while Cebu Eastern College (CEC) thumped Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), 62-39.
In the Passerelle division, defending champion and 2012 national runner-up UV kicked off its campaign with a 58-39 victory over DBTC.
USC also started its bid for the title on a high note as it beat CEC, 72-51. SHS-AdC scored its second straight win via a 64-14 whipping of USJ-R.
The BEST Center SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament is on its 28th season of providing a venue of competition for the Under 15 and Under 12 age groups nationwide. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
