YOUNG MAN FOUND DEAD

THE body of a 21-year-old man was found floating in a river in barangay Pangdan, Naga City, southern Cebu.

Police said the fatality, Roel John Largo, had bruises and cuts in the head.

The body was found by fisherman Josie Brigoli past 3 p.m. Monday.

Police said Largo was last seen Monday midnight with his friends playing billiards.

Police said Largo went home ahead of the group since he still had classes the next morning.

Largo was a second year criminology student of the University of Cebu.

Police said one of the man’s advised him no to go home yet since it was flooding and that he had to cross the river to reach hime.

Police said that Largo might have been carried away by the water while crossing the river.

Investigators are still waiting for the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of the man’s death, said PO1 Al Rasid Jimlani of Naga police./REPORTER JOY CHERRY S. QUITO

ARCHITECT SHOT IN JEEPNEY

AN architect was critically wounded after he was shot by a welder after they argued inside a passenger jeepney in barangay Poblacion Ward 4, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

Ronald Villacencio, a 41-year-old resident of barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla, sustained a gunshot wound in the neck.

The alleged suspect, Mario Glenn Sonsona, 37, fled after the incident, police said.

Police said the two men were among the passengers of a Multicab Monday night.

The jeepney driver told police that the two men argued over a traveling bag owned by Sonsona.

It was not immediately known what triggered the argument, police said.

Police said that after the argument, Sonsona alighted from the vehicle and shot Villacencio with a .45 caliber pistol.

The victim was taken to the South General Hospital.

Police said the suspect was identified through a Bio-data found in a bag which the man left behind.
