Roughly 17 percent, or about 12,700, of the over 74,000 examinees who took the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) last year qualified for the university. The UPCAT, which can only be taken once, includes sub-tests on language proficiency, science, mathematics and reading comprehension. The examinees’ scores on these sub-tests are combined with their high-school grades to determine their acceptance in UP.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
