Lotto gives bakery helper a lot of dough

He is now an ex-bakery helper, having come into a lot of dough to put up his own bakery and be his own boss.

The Bulacan native and father of one was handed a check for P23.3 million at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) headquarters in Pasay City on Monday after winning the top prize in the Aug. 1 Lotto 6/42 draw.

PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, who oversees the turnover of the lotto jackpot prizes, said the winner had told him that he had been playing lotto games twice a year since 2008.

In the Aug. 1 draw, the computer generated the numbers he had picked: 05-10-11-22-27-42.

He said he derived the combination from his and his wife’s birth dates and other numbers he picked at random.

The winner planned to leave his job as bakery helper and put up his own bakery, Roxas said.

He said the winner had told him that he would share his winnings with his poor siblings and set aside a substantial portion for his child’s future.
