MANILA, Philippines – Mimaropa and Visayas were warned of flashfloods and landslides as a low pressure area hovered Palawan Monday.

The LPA was last observed 140 kilometers southwest of Coron, Palawan, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

“Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romlon, Palawan) and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over Central and Southern Luzon and coming from the northwest to southwest over Visayas, Pagasa also said.

The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough. Light to moderate winds coming from the east will prevail over Northern Luzon and from the southwest to southeast over mindanao with slight to moderate seas, it added.
