MANILA, Philippines — Two men, one of whom yielded an undetermined quantity of methampethamine hydrochloride or “shabu,” were gunned down separately as they were chatting with their neighbors in Quezon City over the weekend.
Anthony Palma, 54, a resident of Don Carlos Street in Don Antonio Heights, died instantly from multiple bullet wounds while 21-year-old Leopoldo Rigo of Doña Nicasia Subdivision was declared dead on arrival by doctors at East Avenue Medical Center from two gunshot wounds on the head.
Police Officer 2 Alvin Quisumbing of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said that the Scene of the Crime Operatives found 11 casings from a 9mm pistol and a sachet of shabu in the area where Palma was killed at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
The victim was chatting with his friends inside a house near his own when he was shot by someone who was standing outside.
On the other hand, Rigo was shot at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday by a still unidentified man in front of a retail store near his house.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive and suspects in the killings.
