THE GOLDBERRY Suites grabbed the lead in the standings after demolishing the San Remegio Aguilas, 80-40, in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Mivesa Cup last Thursday evening at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
Goldberry showcased its vast offensive arsenal that saw all 14 players score at least two points. Joseph Lo led the assault with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists while Stanley Ong and Chad Canares each added 10 points apiece that helped propel Goldberry to its fourth win in as many outings.
Ryan Lauro paced the Aguilas with 21 markers.
In other games, Gaisano Capital trounced the A-Team, 58-50, for its third win in four games.
Anton Solon and Brian Downey led the charge with 11 points each that spoiled the 28-point explosion of the A-Team’s Dandan Tecson.
Finally, Milco evened its record to 2-2 (win-loss) after edging Alberto’s Pizza, 65-62.
The game was a close one and was tied for the last time at 62-all after a make by Alberto’s Jonathan Cimafranca.
But Milco was more than up to the challenge and claimed the exciting win, thanks to the last three points of Theogene Lim, who finished with 22 markers.
Lim and Roderick Mangubat formed a dynamic duo that tallied a total of 46 points, thanks to the latter’s game-high 24 points. Cecilio Gillamac added 15 more for Milco.
Alberto’s was paced by the 17 of Christian Pepito.
