Two ‘ukay-ukay’ vendors kidnapped in Sulu

MANILA, Philippines –Two ‘ukay-ukay’ (used clothing) vendors were allegedly abducted by armed men in Patikul, Sulu Sunday, police said Monday.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that victims Ambon Blas, 60, and Perlita Bagay, 25, were kidnapped by several armed men at around 5:20 p.m. near Latih Elementary School in Patikul, Sulu.

The two had sold used garments at the PMar detachment at Patong-Patong Danag, Patikul earlier that day, and were riding a motorcycle when they were snatched by the suspects.

Police suspect that the armed men belong to the”Virgin Boys” group, followers of Abu Sayyaf leader Basarun Arok, Cruz said.

The spokesman stated that the suspects have not contacted the authorities for their ransom demand as of posting time.
